Proper configuration and operation of DNS services are critical to the correct operation of cloud services for your customer.  We highly recommend using a service such as www.dnsmadeeasy.com  for your customers, that includes full access and configuration of DNS zone files, multiple global mirrored servers, guaranteed uptime, and enhanced features such as DNS record monitoring, alerting, and failover.

 

 

Hosted Exchange DNS

There are 2 DNS based services that need to be configured for proper Hosted Exchange operation – MX records (for mail routing), and AutoDiscover records (for auto configuration of email clients).

 

MX RECORD CONFIGURATION

3 MX records need to be configured for the customer domain, as follows:

@            MX         20           mx2.exordia.co.za

@            MX         10           mx3.exordia.co.za

@            MX         10           mx4.exordia.co.za

 

AUTODISCOVER CONFIGURATION

Configure a CNAME record for the customer domain as follows:

autodiscover         CNAME              autodiscoverredirect.extendgroup.net

 

OUTLOOK WEB ACCESS

Due to SSL certificate cost and complexity, we do not configure customer specific URL’s for OWA.  Customers wishing to access OWA should do so via the following URL: https://mail.extendgroup.net/owa

 

TABLETS AND SMARTPHONES

Mobile operating systems generally do not use AutoDiscover for email configuration, and require the actual server record to be entered.  Again, due to SSL certificate costs and complexity we do not configure customer specific URL’s for mobile server designations.  To configure customer tablets and smartphones use the following as the ‘server’ entry: mail.extendgroup.net
